"Hold My Earrings"

I'm stuck.

Figuratively. Literally. Emotionally, even. Stuck.

Can't come up with a good blog topic. Can't get the words out. Can't get the healthy food down very well. Can't get the weight down. Stuck.

Some moments I cleanse the stuck with chocolate but mostly I've been using exercise as catharsis. This is a good thing, I know. But it's not new to me. I've had a few 'stuck' moments in my life where I've turned to compulsive exercise to help me work out the kinks.

The issue, this time, with all my gym rattyness – besides the fact that I turn to Jersey Shore when I'm on the treadmill and find myself nodding in agreement with the occasional Snooki-ism – is that the work outs don't seem to be turning into weight loss. Instead they seem to turn me into a carb-seeking missile which in turn makes me feel bloated, gross and guilty which in turn makes me head back to the gym at full force.

Its a viscious cycle.. Not unlike the “romance” between Sammi “Sweetheart” and Ronnie “Roids”. Frustration, tears, sweaty tight clothing and lots and lots of f-bombs.

I'll be back in touch once I get off this hamster wheel. Right now I gotta GTL.

I am right there with you sister! Except for the compulsive exercise. Is that why my weight is going up? If misery does love company then make room on the couch for me.

Gilly Says:

Here's a little pressie from me, for you, my bloaty friend! It's a de-bloatifying drink!

Slice 1 lemon thinly. Peel 1/2 a cucumber and also slice that thinly. Grate 1 tbsp of ginger. Add all of this to 2 litres of water and let it sit overnight. Then drink it, and deflate. Then write a blog entry about how much you love me!

(PS: my security word thingie was "gilingus", which kind of sounded like someone made up a word for cunnilingus especially personalized for me! Which was dirty, but I loved it!)

Theresa Says:

I feel you sista! I'm going to try Gilly's drink, but with Gin in it and I'll let you know how skinny I get.

Angie Cummings Says:

I hate the bloat... Lord these days I am the bloat!

I find it hard to balance exercise with hunger, I love going in for three hour work-outs but I can't, because I then eat my weight in food that day. I'm sorry you're feeling so stuck, love ya!

Camille Says:

I'm so stuck too. Boo!!

Anonymous Says:

Oh yeah, I have not budged in weight for a month. I will try Gilly's drink too. It can't hurt. Good luck.

Melanie Says:

I'm with you Sherry! Chocolate and carbs are my best friends at night after dinner! They give me incentive to workout the next day too. :)

Anonymous Says:

mmm, chocolate. I am feelin your pain too my dear. I did a session with the trainer, 2 miles on the treadmill and Zumba tonight. I am going to try that drink too, and then I'm gonna feel bad when Gilly does the "Ha, Ha, Ha I made you guys drink something nasty" post on her blog later this week!

Janelle Says:

Benn there... have you tried switching your workout up every day? Are you doing weight training? Any classes you can take? I am finding the classes are my lifesaver right now, I take a power class and some cardio classes for a good mixture of weights and cardio, weights are super important so hopefully you are getting some strength training in! I hope you become unstuck soon, being stuck SUCKS!

Nella Says:

GTL baby all the way!

Ashley Says:

Working out makes me want to eat bad too. I'm sorry you're feeling stuck right now!

P.S. I knew exactly what you were thinking of when I saw the title of your post.
